It's Sale Time!

I'm sure making up for the fact I put myself through 50 days of not buying any clothes, though today I was the luckily girl, as Mummy Rockintage treated me to some Vivien of Holloway goodies - well they have a sale on at the moment, it would be rude not to!

Just a crappy little picture of my goodies, I didn't want to put them all on and ruin my next few outfit posts :)

A fitted halter neck dress, in red, with polka dots, whats not to love, some shorts for the summer, two new belts, and a top that matches my new thumb tattoos (and now my new ring - from yesterday, too), definitely a spoilt day for me (especially seeing as I got dinner too!)

Of course I am also provided today's outfit:

3/4 lengths, shocking I know, my red and black stripy top I got in Australia, a plain black cardigan and my Sergeant Dolly Jacket from Collectif, fairly straight forward outfit, but a little bit on the rock 'n roll side of things :)

A Morbidly Obese Outfit Post

Since starting my diet a little over 3 weeks ago, I have finally reached the milestone of losing a stone. Just out of interest, I checked my BMI, just to be told I was morbidly obese, and I would need to lose another 3.5 stone just to be my supposed healthy weight. Thats interesting, especially as I am a size 14. So, my healthy weight would be what, a size 6-8?! Really?! I am in no way skinny, nor am I under any illusions in terms of my size, but please, morbidly obese?! You be the judge:

The dress is actually a NEXT goodie I got in the sale, and a plain cardigan. I'm surprised either comes in morbidly obese sizes!

A Brief Working Outfit

I only worked for 3.5 hours today, which is always nice, having to go home to do Uni work isn't. As expected though, I have found many ways to distract myself. Shocking really.

My poof is rather massive today, not exactly a problem though. The cropped jacket is the new Collectif Sergeant Dolly Jacket, a plain top underneath, and of course my beloved cropped M&S jeans.

Now, as whenever I am at home, I'm in my PJs :)

The Challenge - Day 45

Another day at Shrewd today, and I got my "Hello Sailor" brooch I won on through a RetroDec through the post, I love it, I've been looking forward to wearing it since I found out I won. I never win anything. Well, the last time I won anything I was around 6, and the German equivalent of Captain's Bird Eye did some random radio competition. I think I had to draw a picture of some description, and won a watch, covered in the German Captain. I'm pretty sure I still have it somewhere. Nonetheless, this was around 21 years ago, so obviously I was excited. Especially as its nautical and has an anchor, things I love. So, without further ado, here's my win:

It's friggin' adorable isn't it!!!

I see a lot of wear in this little felt brooch's future, but here's today's outfit:

It's a fairly similar outfit to yesterday, though with a blue/nautical theme. I'm wearing my Collectif Helga Swallows skirt, blue gingham Flavia top (also Collectif), the miscellaneous cardigan from yesterday, and the belt I wore yesterday too. It's a staple Daddy Rockintage got me. The necklace is from Tatty Devine, and of course my awesome brooch!

P.S. If you want to buy the lovely brooch, you can get it here, and see me wearing it too!

The Challenge - Day 26 Outfit 2 And A Little Fail

Oh My Sweet Jesus, that gig was AWESOME. Yes, totally worth of the capitals. I love that man's voice (Everlast that is), and it was such a small, intimate gig, I was practically in touching distance!

As I was attending a gig, I did buy a T-shirt. I realise this is technically against the rules, seeing as it was a gig, an Everlast gig, and I am a sucker for merch. The man flesh did point out, this also supports the artist, thus I don't actually feel bad...

...its just too exciting!

I did of course de-hat my hair so to speak:

...and as I am having somewhat of a fat day, all my pictures are black and white, its my artistic licence, and I am not afraid to use it!

This is my very brief gig outfit. My trusty M&S 3/4 lengths, my Globe trainers (which were a steal at £10), an old polka dot top (I think its H&M - I "borrowed" it from a flatmate once), an old cardigan of no specific origin, and the Batman belt I bought last time I was in Oz. Voila!

The Challenge - Day 26 Outfit 1

Today I have learnt a valuable lesson. If you have a black fringe, with otherwise blonde hair, DO NOT under any circumstances wear your hair up and have said fringe to the side. It will look like you're wearing a rather odd little hat. Hence why I'm not loving the picture of today's first outfit. Not only will  I be changing before the man flesh and I head to the Everlast gig (wooohooo), but I will be quiffing it up. No more hat hair, of this peculiar type.

My little nautically themed outfit (again). Collectif Nicole Denim Swallow Skirt, a stripy vest top, an old New Look cropped cardigan, and my Iron Fist wedges. Of course, I am also wearing my Tatty Devine anchor necklace, and the belt Daddy Sefkerinio gave me.

Now to go and change my hair.

The Challenge - Day 20

Today has been birthday o'clock, admittedly, I didn't get dressed until about 3pm, but I think thats allowed - at least I hope so.

I am now laden with presents (the most awesome watch ever being one of them - I'll probably post about this too, and Everlast tickets from the man flesh, soooo excited), and dying of the food baby I'm carrying, after Daddy Sefkerinio took us to Rodizio Rico. If you've never been, and love meat, go there NOW, its a brazilian BBQ place, with all you can eat meat brought round on swords by men. What more could you possibly want?!

I'm sidetracking, here is today's outfit:

Pretty casual, but hey, its my birthday. Again, my grey Primark jeans, a top I got from I think it was Valley Girl in Oz, and my red Collectif Leo Cardigan. The belt as before from the Dad. And you can just about spot my awesome new time-telling-device.

Time for some bubbly me thinks.

The Challenge - Day 19

I actually really made an effort today! After spending the majority of my day off cleaning (what a joy), I had enough time to get ready ladylike-style - slowly, very enjoyable for a change.

Manflesh and I went out for dinner this eve, I think he was a little surprised with the outfit, seeing as we went to TGI's :)

I bought the dress from Zara about 9 years ago for a friends graduation, and to be honest, completely forgot I had it. Very much do-able as a wiggle dress! It has some strange folded-over off the shoulder thing going on, but it wasn't staying so I got a little creative with safety pins and some red skull beads to give it this look. The shoes are from Next.

I broke out my hotsticks again today for the curls, lining up a post about hotsticks vs heated rollers at the moment - I'll keep you updated!

I actually quite like this picture, a pleasant change!

Totally Addicted To Poof

After losing my video tutorial virginity yesterday, I had a brief scan through some of my pictures, as you do, and realised, I really am addicted to the poof. Most pictures feature me, with a poof. Therefore, I decided to just show you some quick pictures, call it "The Good, The Bad and the Poof". These photos span the last year or so, so there are some poofs that are more successful than others, some with obvious grips, and various hair colours, just to give an idea of what can be done.

Maybe I should give some other hairstyles a go :)

Quick Front Roll Tutorial - I Did It!

So I have finally managed to get over myself, and I have made a little video tutorial to create a quick front roll/poof/quiff, whatever you want to call it.

All you need is Dry Shampoo (if you have lanky hair like me, I like Batiste), hairspray, some grips, and if you're going for the second option I have given, something like a marker pen, mascara tube.

I will have to make some more videos, as this is quite the learning process, enjoy x

The Challenge - Day 14

As I will be going straight home from work, (in fairness via a supermarket), to get into my Pj's and getting my drink on for some pre-birthday shenanigans, a slightly earlier post. Unfortunately, this also means there is a lack of a full frontal picture, as with phone, and alone, at work, its very difficult to achieve. But here we go anyway:

The Road jeans I wore a few days ago, with my very ancient trainers I got in Montreal a small lifetime ago. They make my feet seem small, especially with the crazy sized jeans over the top, so I like them :)

I'm also not entirely myself today, managed to forget my liquid eye-liner at home today, epic failure on my part! The jacket/cardigan is from Miss Fortune, a Christmas present from the man-flesh (he does know me well), a grey shirt (dubbed the "Boobie Top) I got from a little shop in Byron Bay, Australia, yonks ago. Necklace is from the fabulous Tatty Devine (Christmas present from one of Man flesh's friends - I am a lucky girl).they are 100% likely to show up again before the end of the challenge!

So far the quiff has more or less survived, hair washing time tomorrow, and then I will brace myself and make my first video tutorial - of course about quiffs, so stay tuned!

The Challenge - Day 12

The return of the quiff! I simply couldn't be without it any longer, and its my biggest one yet! I went a bit more rock today anyway, so it seemed appropriate. I will, within the next few days do a little tutorial on the awesomeness that is the quiff (my first video - eek) and will attempt to go a little bit bigger too, but in the meantime, I am hoping it will survive till tomorrow :)

But first of all, here is the outfit for the 12th day:

Admittedly, this is the same Collectif cardigan I wore yesterday (apparently it is the only skull related thing I have, which seems weird), with my M&S (yes) cropped jeans, and my newest addition to my St. Pauli collection (a Hamburg football club, I'm not football orientated, but its more of a cult thing these days) which I got when I went to back to the homeland a few weeks ago.

But enough of this, here is the quiff:

yay!

The Challenge - Day 8

...and again I have gone for a nautical feel, and once again, I rather liked this one.

I actually got the top a while ago from a charity shop, but was never quite sure what to do with it, but I'm quite pleased with the look. The batwing style sleeves do hide some bingo-loving arms. The only negative is the panels under the armpit, lets call them side-boob-modestity-panel, as they do sit rather high, and I did experience a bit of chaffing. No pain, no gain, or something similarly disappointing :)

The belt is, as previously a gift from my parents, and thus of unknown origin. The skirt is from Collectif (if you hadn't noticed, I own a lot of Collectif stuff, it comes with the job).

I may actually plan ahead for tomorrows outfit, and maybe, as per yesterday, attempt something new.

Curly Poof - A Success Story

For, what seems like a small eternity, my hairstyle of choice has been the quiff (from now on refered to as the poof, it can lead to confusion but for some reason, I really enjoy that word, no no, REALLY enjoy it). Not just because I like it, but because quite frankly, when it comes to hair I am as useless as a chocolate teapot (especially as I don't drink tea), that coupled with hair that frankly does not want to do what I want to do (and as previously mentioned is currently pink as opposed to the desired red) - makes a poof an easy option.

That said, and I am in no way, shape or form cheating on my beloved poof, I've always wanted to do more, and I certainly wanted something a bit more "interesting", a bit more vintage and a bit more rock 'n roll. Having met the lovely Landgirl1980 (who, by the way has an awesome blog, anyone interested in the 1940s should definitely check it out) a week or so ago, and her having hair I'm so jealous off I may turn into a much smaller version of the Hulk (I'm only 5'3 - realistically that can't stretch to regular Hulk proportions), I asked the lovely lady for some help to achieve a curly poof, the bigger the better, because it truly is what you do with it. I can now confirm, that although still on the small side, we have hair lift off.

Day 1 - not a bad attempt, consider my previous failings (not in life obviously)

Day 2 - Excuse the 12 year old scared weirdo expression, but this is today, a little bigger, and the Kirby grip hiding has improved

And the big secret, the thing I didn't know and the reason I couldn't previously achieve the curly poof??? I'm a little embarrassed at how simple it is... Take the hair and roll it around something, e.g. Mascara tube, or for the second attempt it was my foundation (I highly doubt this would work with Foundation that comes in anything non-cylindrical, but you get the jist). Previously I'd struggle to try and get somesort of curl to form around my finger, hopeless, in my case anyway. The recomendation given was to use a little mousse whilst doing it, to set the curl and to make it easier to work with. Being unprepared at all times I didnt have any mousse, but the wonderment that is Dry Shampoo (oh there will be an entire entry about this soon - I adore it) and enough hairspray to collapse many an atmosphere also did the trick.

I am still on a one woman mission to get the curly poof bigger and better and to take it to new dizzying heights, as and when I achieve this, it'll all be right here!!!!

Oh, and of course there will be an update as to whether the crazy height I desire will be achieved in time to the Antique Vs Vintage Fair in Ewell on the 23rd July, if not, you'll find me picking the brain of the Beauty Parlour Stylist!
